More than just a headache, migraine affects 1 in 6 people worldwide. It’s a leading cause of disability.
We use evidence-based science to help people finally get their headaches under control.
Migraine Insight Essentials
At Migraine Insight, we are passionate about addressing the unmet needs of those who live with migraine and headache disorders.
Our app toolkit helps people better understand their illness so they can reduce or eliminate episodes. Our work is rooted in bringing evidence based techniques from headache specialists into an app experience to help people get better.
Founded in 2020 in Minneapolis, Migraine Insight is helping people getting better from the second leading cause of disability in the U.S. We’re #2 in the app stores (Apple and Android) and we’ve already helped thousands of people achieve more headache-free days.
Why are we different?
We are proud to be the first health tracker to use AI to help people with headache disorders.
All other headache trackers ask ‘What are your triggers?’ and adds that into a report. We are the only app with a way to investigate and find triggers.
Clinical research confirms that finding triggers can reduce or eliminate episodes. Everyone with migraines has different triggers. Headache specialists spend a lot of time trying to help people find triggers – usually with paper tracking, which has a long history of not working well. And, since no other app helps people directly with this problem, we are the only tool to help the patient figure out the complex puzzle of what’s really causing episodes for them.
Migraine Insight helps people collect the right information and uses AI to find patterns. Our app users work better with their care team by accurately tracking down the behavior and environmental factors that cause their headaches.
On top of helping people get better by finding the hard-to-identify patterns that they and their care team can’t find, this app has all the bells and whistles of standard headache trackers. The toolkit is designed on the evidence-based way headache specialists work with some of the most ill patients. And, our app has helped thousands of people achieve more headache-free days and get their lives back.
The App
In this full featured headache journal and AI trigger finder, patients start by tracking episodes, meds, triggers and treatments. After about 8 weeks, the suspected triggers are ranked and concerning patterns are highlighted. As the user tracks more over time, the system reveals more patterns and can help solve the problem of finalaly finding a person’t real episode triggers.
The toolkit’s set of features work together to help patients and doctors make the important insights that help people reduce or eliminate migraines. Patients have better appointments with clear, organized reports. The app helps people better manage medications.
The app has been very successful in helping people identify triggers so they can reduce – or, even eliminate – migraines. The reviews on iPhone and Android have several great user quotes.

Our Story
We see helping people get better from headache disorders as a social justice disorder. The suicide rate for people living with chronic migraine is 9x higher than average. And, in the US, the wait to see a headache specialist is over 3 years.

A Note On Getting Care - An Important Issue For Our Users.
For those who can afford care, getting it can take a lot of time. There are 47 million Americans with migraine disease. And, there are 564 board-certified headache specialists. The average wait to see a headache specialist in the US is 3 years.
On top of the issues with getting in for care, too many people are uninsured or underinsured. Forty-three percent of working-age adults were inadequately insured in 2022. A lot of people simply do not have the resources to get the attention and care needed to address the complex problem that a headache disorder presents. A quick visit to a primary care doc can help some. But, most people need to see a specialist.
To better understand this issue, PBS’s segment ‘15 percent of Americans have migraine disease. Why aren’t there better treatment options?‘ is a great starting point.
Our app helps people living with migraines who don’t have proper access to care by helping them gather the right information for eventual engagement when it’s available. For example, most patients visit the ER multiple times to try and alleviate attacks before they finally see a specialist and get the cause of their episodes sorted out. Better records help them better navigate getting care. We also hear from patients who don’t have access to care that the trigger pattern finder can be a significant help in reducing attacks.
We’re designed to help patients work better with their care team. We also get constant kudos and thanks from people who can’t access medical care. Finding triggers works; it’s often the main focus of advanced headache care. (article: NYT)
